Appraiser Continuing Education Requirements
If you hold an Idaho appraiser credential, Idaho is currently transitioning to biennial licensure. The Idaho Real Estate Appraiser Board states that, as of July 1, 2025, the Board began transitioning to biennial licensure. DOPL’s 2025 and 2026 renewal-cycle notices explain that licenses are moving toward expiration on the individual’s birthday or, for business-issued licenses, the original issue date, with the transition phased in over more than one renewal cycle.

What Idaho appraisers need
Idaho’s current official FAQ states that each licensee is required to obtain 30 classroom hours of continuing education every 24 months prior to license renewal. The FAQ also states that all 30 hours may be taken online. DOPL’s March 2026 renewal-cycle notice further states that there are no changes to the current continuing-education requirements as a result of the renewal-cycle transition.

USPAP requirement
Idaho’s current official FAQ states that the required 30 hours include an approved 7-hour USPAP update course once every two years, and that the 7-hour USPAP course counts toward the 30-hour total. DOPL’s education page also directs appraisers to Continuing Education Rule 401 for current CE requirements.

Valuation Bias and Fair Housing status
I would not present the Valuation Bias and Fair Housing course as a clearly confirmed current Idaho renewal requirement yet. During this review, Idaho’s current public FAQ still stated the existing 30-hour / 24-month requirement with 7-hour USPAP, and DOPL’s March 2026 renewal-cycle notice said there were no changes to the current CE requirements. Idaho also has official materials showing that VBFH changes were proposed in rulemaking documents, but I did not verify a current Idaho public guidance page that clearly says the VBFH CE course is already required for renewal. Because you asked for accuracy, I would keep Idaho’s public page conservative on this point until Idaho publishes a clearer final implementation notice.

Important Idaho deadlines
Idaho’s current Board news says that the license term is transitioning to a two-year cycle and that current licensees are being phased into that cycle based on birth year. Idaho’s Board also states that you may apply for or renew a license through DOPL’s online system. DOPL’s renewal-cycle notices explain that licensees can still renew early, generally up to 60 days prior to expiration during the transition.

Current Idaho renewal fees
The Idaho Board’s current fee table lists the Individual License Renewal fee at $275, including the $25 ASC fee. The same fee table lists the reinstatement fee as $35 in addition to the renewal fee.

Approved courses and audits
Idaho’s education page states that the Board maintains a Board Approved Providers & Courses resource, that CE is also accepted if approved by any state with reciprocity with Idaho, and that the Board conducts annual audits. If audited, the licensee must submit a listing of CE courses completed during the previous year and proof of attendance documentation for each course.

Legal Authority / Compliance References
Idaho’s current official legal-reference page is the Board’s Statutes, Rules and Guidance page, which points to the Idaho Real Estate Appraisers Act and the current Board rules. Idaho’s current practical guidance appears on the Board’s official Real Estate Appraiser Board, Frequently Asked Questions, and Education pages. Those are the clearest current sources for Idaho’s present 30-hour CE requirement, the 7-hour USPAP requirement, online-course permissibility, annual audit process, and the ongoing transition to biennial licensure.

How to Renew
Idaho appraisers renew through DOPL’s online licensing system from the Board’s Apply for or Renew a License link. The Board also notes that some Board forms must still be printed, notarized, and mailed or hand-delivered with payment when paper filing is required. Because Idaho is currently transitioning renewal timing to a biennial cycle, licensees should check the Board’s current renewal-cycle updates before filing.

Pro-Tips for 2026
-
Do not assume every Idaho appraiser has the same renewal timing in 2026. DOPL is phasing in the new renewal cycle based on birth year or original issue date, so your renewal term may differ from another Idaho appraiser’s during the transition.
-
Keep your CE certificates even if you do not submit them with renewal. Idaho’s Board says certificates usually are required only if you are selected for an audit or need to reinstate an expired license, but you must already have proof of completion when you certify compliance at renewal.
